The Evergreen Shiba Club was founded in 1986 before the
AKC recognized the Shiba Inu in 1992.  The goal of the Club in the early days was to get together and compete with their shibas at rare breed shows. When the Shiba was recognized by AKC, the Evergreen Shiba Club Hosted the first Annual National Specialty.

In the late 1990's early 2000, the focus was to become an independently AKC licensed club and put on its own Specialties out from under the auspices of the parent club.  One requirement of the American Kennel Club was that we incorporate the word "Inu" into the
club's name, so we are now known as,

THE EVERGREEN SHIBA INU CLUB

Rescues Shibas -- 2009 has us dealing with a seizure, and hopefully closure, of a well known puppy mill in the Hines, OR area. Shibas4life and Evergreen have teamed up to help those Shibas that have been surrendered. If you would like to make a donation please contact Jean MacTarnahan at jeanmac@mac.com

For more information regarding the shibas and this particular rescue story, please visit www.saveourshibas.com

Jean can also put you in touch with other Evergreen members who are fostering those dogs, as well as any other info you might need to help us along the way.
